PALEMBANG – PROKLIM Project taken a decisive step toward strengthening its climate resilience with multi-stakeholder initiative to develop Grand Design for Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation (2025–2035). Bringing together representatives from national and provincial government agencies, development partners and community stakeholders, the multi-stakeholder meeting in Palembang signaled a growing tangible action conducted on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at the Aston Palembang Hotel and Conference Center by PT SUCOFINDO, in collaboration with UNOPS and MoE. South Sumatra, characterized by its vast peatlands and forest cover, plays a pivotal role in supporting Indonesia's Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) for greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reductions. Consequently, this Technical Working Group (TWG) was established to formulate strategic policy directions and priorities for regional climate adaptation and mitigation. Serving as the empirical foundation for this policy formulation, the forum highlighted the initial triumphs of the ProKlim Project across 100 villages spanning 10 regencies. Driven by massive interventions, the project has catalyzed several concrete actions: 1. Community Empowerment: Through trainings such as Business, Product Diversification and Adaptation-Mitigation to strengthen climate and digital literacy for community. 2. Adaptation and Mitigation Interventions: Village-level infrastructure interventions are on-going, including the provision of fire-fighting water pumps, deep wells, biopore holes, and solar panels. In addition, workshops for waste management and business development have been implemented, as well as will continue to this quarter. 3. "Waste Management System" Innovation: The development of an integrated digitally driven waste management system. This initiative not only reduces the carbon footprint but also generates supplementary economic value for rural communities. The culmination of this multi - stakeholder collaboration is the development of the 2025–2035 Grand Design for Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation in South Sumatra Province. This medium-to-long-term strategic blueprint aims to: 1. Serve as a cross-sectoral framework coherently integrated into regional development planning documents (RPJPD, RPJMD, RKPD) and diverse funding streams, including regional/national budgets (APBD/APBN) and climate financing. 2. Ensure strict inclusivity by mainstreaming the participation of women, youth, and vulnerable groups into comprehensive climate action. 3. Generate a detailed cross-sectoral matrix outlining specific programs, precise locations, responsible entities, and funding sources. 4. Prepare robust institutional mechanisms, coordination frameworks, and a Measurable, Reportable, and Verifiable (MRV) monitoring design. The forum witnessed the active participation of strategic representatives, including the Ministry of Environment, the South Sumatra Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda), various provincial and regency-level Environmental Agencies (DLH), and the SME Agency. The Grand Design embodies a unified commitment to forging a climate-resilient, green-competitive, and sustainable South Sumatra
